HOUSTON (January 25, 2005) – In what promises to be a challenging year for small telecom providers competing against giants like SBC Communications, LOGIX is launching a new branding and advertising campaign that calls attention to the company’s key competitive advantage—exceptional customer service.
“We’ve been a trusted telecom provider of many businesses for more than 20 years and we know what’s important to them,” said Matt Asmus, COO of LOGIX Communications. “Our new ‘Simply Better’ campaign speaks to how we meet our customers’ needs by making telecom simpler, easier and more convenient than our large competitors.”
LOGIX’s new campaign, created by Stan & Lou Advertising, is primarily targeting the Houston and Dallas/Ft. Worth markets with billboards and radio advertising. The billboards feature simple messages that highlight how LOGIX delivers exceptional customer service, including: “We’ll never ask you to ‘Press 1’ for anything;” “Great rates. Less Billing;” “So easy to switch, even CEOs can do it;” and “The hardest part of switching is picking up the phone.”
The radio spot introduces listeners to Og and Zog, the inventors of the wheel, as Og suggests that Zog round the corners of Zog’s square wheel to make it easier to use. In this modern-day twist, Og one-ups Zog again and reveals LOGIX as another invention of simplicity. Further building on the “Simply Better” slogan, the new campaign also features what may be the industry’s smallest sales brochure, a 4 x 5.5-inch tri-fold brochure outlining “The Simple Process to Switch.”
Since 1983, when the company started out operating from a vacant apartment in Houston and providing long-distance service, LOGIX has been a key player in the competitive telecom industry that emerged from the break up of telecommunications monopoly AT&T. After the establishment of the Telecom Act of 1996, LOGIX became the first facility-based telecom to provide competitive local telephone service in Texas. While focusing on integrating local, long-distance and Internet services for small- to medium-sized businesses, the company also has diversified its products to include wiring entire office buildings so tenants can use one provider for all local, long-distance and Internet services.
“With the regulatory environment currently tilting in favor of big telecom companies like SBC Communications, we hope our campaign sends a signal to regulators as well as customers that competition in the telecom industry is good for customers,” Asmus said. “We believe our campaign captures everything we stand for as a company and we hope more businesses will give us a try for the peace of mind that we provide with our telecom service.”
