LOGIX COMMUNICATIONS LOBBIES TO PROTECT CONSUMER RIGHTS
HOUSTON (April 5, 2006) - Texas-based telecom provider, LOGIX Communications, was listed in the Wall Street Journal as being one of the top seven spenders for lobbying services in the telecommunications industry. LOGIX believes that competition in the telecom sector could be severely eroded if the pending AT&T/BellSouth merger is allowed to go forward. Mergers of this magnitude could make it difficult for small phone companies to compete.
“If consolidation of phone companies continues, we will be right back where we were in 1984 before the breakup of the Bell monopoly,” said Matt Asmus, C.O.O. of LOGIX. “LOGIX has to continue our lobbying efforts. We believe that consumers deserve to have a choice of communication providers and if we are not vigilant, that choice could vanish.”
The Bell companies have enormous lobbying clout and the smaller companies have to band together in their lobbying efforts to have an impact against the giants. LOGIX backs industry associations such as CompTel and TEXALTEL, which were created to preserve telecom competition.
If you support competition in telecom, LOGIX urges you to write your congressman and voice your opinion. Matt Asmus, LOGIX C.O.O., states that “without the support of consumers, we will not be able to continue our competitive service offerings.”
